Features you need to use on Moomoo Mobile App to supercharge your investment

As a Moomoo user one should know that on the mobile app, it provides tons of features allowing new beginner to season veterans to make full use of the features and functions provided. You could literally do almost everything on the app.

In this post, I will be share some of the features I used most often in the Moomoo mobile app for me to keep track of my portfolio whenever I go after using the app for 3 years.

1) –Custom Watchlist

Do you know you can create custom watchlist for stocks and group them according to the way you wanted it to be?

First Click on the 3 lines on the right side of the corner to bring out the watchlist popout

From here you can either create a new Watchlist to track a certain stocks
For example: I categorise my watchlist to the following
Mag 7( For investment and swing trades + options)
On Lookout( Stocks that are on carefully monitor that could move in coming days)
Vix( For understanding the general market volatility and fear , options pricing)
Cybersecurity( Cybersecurity companies stocks)
Semiconductor( Hot semiconductor stocks)
Nuclear Energy( New hot industry/ topic)
Crypto ETF( BTC and Ethereum ETF)

If you click the Edit button, it will bring you this selection where you can hold the 3 lines and choose to move certain watchlist around or if you click the circle with three dots it will allow you to Delete or Rename

For the markets tab, you can see how the index is performing. For me since Im focus only in the US market, I will click on US market to see how the indexes is performing to get the general idea of the market sentiment.

You can also look at the Heat Map to see which industries is performing well in comparison to other industry

From this Heat Map we can filter to the results we want to see which industry is doing well or bad at the current moment

2.2) Dividends Calender
If you are a dividend investor in the US market, this is a great feature for you. You can sort by company withHigh Dividendor companies dividends that is continuing to grow over the time (Continuous Growth)

Personally, I prefer looking at companies that provide growing dividends over time as high dividends yield companies usually have a lot of downside

Next, is the Dividend Calendar. This is super useful feature to find out the next company that is distributing their dividends. If you click the calendar icon on the right you will be reminded. On top of the search bar you can search for your favourite company to see which dates are they distributing dividends to their shareholders

For example, if I searched for Coca-Cola, it would show me for year 2024 these are the dividends that the company have distributed and the respective information like the amount per share and the respective dates. (Super useful)

2.3) Featured Lists
The next sub category is also useful for providing important information for day trader as well as investors.
It shows Pre-Market (biggest movement in pre-market)
It shows Top Gainers ( Top Gainers and Top losers for the day)
Heat list : Popular among trader and investor, high volume
Short Sales: Number of shares being shorted ( shares that potentially will fall in price)
5-movers : stocks making the biggest move in 5min timeframe

2.4) Investment Themes

Investment Themes is another very useful feature to invest in certain themes or events , people, topics. You can can sort them by returns as well

This top one shows the hottest themes to invest in. (Donald Trump, Black Friday, Crypto)

You can click into the individual themes to explore the stocks that are related to the themes (for example Donald Trump – TESLA, MARA, DJT)

If you scroll down to the bottom, you can see that there is another way of finding stocks within certain themes or industry.

If you clicked in for example ChatGPT you can see the different parts that make up of the themes and the stocks that are related to it

This allows you to see the list of company that have their earnings released and certain metrics beat the estimates such as EPS, Revenue and EBIT

For Economic Calendar it is super useful for knowing the upcoming events that are happening which can cause a shift in economic and monetary policy.

Of course you can add the one you are interested to your calendar so that it can remind you. And search for the important one to know the date and time

For Earnings
You can see how the companies that have reported their earnings is doing based on the metrics

When you clicked in, you can see the various data regarding the released of earnings report like the Revenue, EPS, operating data, analyst ratings , news and peer companies

2.7) Institutional Tracker
It is a very useful feature to look into the holdings of large institutional companies

For example if we clicked in Berkshire Hathway Inc we can see the stocks they hold in their holding list and the increase, decrease or new stocks they added to their portfolio under management.

This tab consists of many aspects of of wealth management from Money market funds, Bonds, Robo-advisor , structured products to bond and equity funds.

For those who prefer to invest in funds instead of picking individual stocks, this tab would be useful to you

Some brief explanation on various individual tabs:

Cash Plus: Money Market Funds offer by Moomoo for you to generate returns on your idle cash sitting in your account doing nothing. A feature known as SmartSave allows the system to do it for you automatically so that your account is always generating cash

Structured Product: Structured products are financial instruments whose performance or value is linked to that of an underlying asset, product, or index
On here you can either subscribe to the existing products offered by Moomoo such as Bullish Sharkfin SPY + QQQ + IWM where you think that US stocks will continue to rise into year 2025 and it offers principal protection and 4.62% absolute returns
There is also a lot of other unique combination to satisfy you investment needs

Bond :is a fixed-income investment that represents a loan made by an investor to a borrower, usually corporate or governmental. You have many choice to choose from, Fast Buy Bonds, US treasuries bonds, SGD bonds and other popular bonds

Bond Funds: is a mutual fund or exchange-traded fund that buys debt assets to produce regular monthly income for its investors. Mainly invest in treasury bond, agency bond, corporate bonds and other debt securities.

Balanced Funds: They are hybrid mutual funds that invest money across asset classes with a mix of low- to medium-risk stocks, bonds, and other securities.

Equity Funds: is a type of fund that uses investors' capital to invest in stocks with higher than 80% position in equity.

Alternatives: Alternatives investment is a financial asset that does not fall into one of the conventional investment categories, which are stocks, bonds, or cash.
For this you can invest in Private Equity (PE) or Hedge Funds (HF) which are mostly available for Accredited Investors only (AI)

Robo-advisor: uses algorithms to automate investing based on an investor's financial situation and risk tolerance to create and manage investment portfolios

From there you can see the suggested funds for you to invest by clicking view your advice.

Portfolios: Different types of portfolios for you to invest in such as Income+ for income enhancement, Core portfolio for global exposure, themes for multi asset thematic investment and high dividend for stable high dividend portfolio

Fund Houses: Able to choose the fund house you prefer to see what funds each fund house is providing
