Fiber Optics Company Lumen Becomes AI Favorite, Soars 93% on Monday, Rises Over 30% Again on Tuesday
Fiber optics company Lumen recently revealed that fiber networks are becoming increasingly important and scarce in the AI context, with the company securing a $5 billion order.
Unlike traditional fiber optics that use glass as the core, hollow-core fiber has a hollow interior and a structure different from traditional fiber optics. Light speed in hollow-core fiber is about 1.5 times that in solid-core single-mode fiber, approaching the speed of light in a vacuum, reducing communication latency by one-third. The non-linear coefficient of hollow-core fiber is 3-4 orders of magnitude lower than that of solid-core single-mode fiber.
