Focus: The FOMC only cuts interest rates in September, and the inflation expression correction in the statement

July 30, 2024 at 10:03 AM GMT+9 (some excerpts)
The US Federal Reserve (FRB) will decide to leave policy interest rates unchanged at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on 30-31. However, they acknowledge that the inflation rate is approaching the target of 2%, and it seems that they are moving to prepare the ground to start cutting interest rates as early as September.
Prior to the FOMC, there was an atmosphere among policy makers that they did not want to specify the exact timing of the first rate cut. Nevertheless, price pressure has generally eased, and the price increase rate on a comprehensive basis is approaching the FRB target, and voices are being heard welcoming the recent situation where indicators such as employment and housing indicate the continuity of such a trend.
