December 14, 2024 3:24 JST (excerpt) Expected to cut interest rates by 0.25 points next week, with the FF interest rate at 4.25-4.50% Most economists expect interest rate cuts next year to be limited to three times
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is expected to cut interest rates for the third time this year next week, but it is unlikely to lower interest rates as much as previously predicted next year, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists. The FOMC is expected to make an additional 0.25-point rate cut at the meeting on December 17-18, lowering the Federal Fund (FF) interest rate target to 4.25-4.50%. This would result in a total of 1 point rate cut since September. According to economists' expectations, the pace of interest rate cuts next year will be slower than what FOMC officials predicted three months ago. Most economists expect interest rate cuts next year to be limited to three times.
