Former Israeli general warns that if the fighting in Gaza continues, the Israeli military will "collapse."
The Israeli media, Haaretz newspaper, published an opinion article titled, "It is Israel, not Hamas, that is collapsing," by former Israeli deputy ombudsman and general, Itzhak Brick.
In the article, Brick states, "If the Israeli military continues to attack the same targets and launch repeated assaults in Gaza, not only will we fail to defeat Hamas, but we ourselves will collapse."
Brick also mentions that while the Israeli military in Gaza is weakening day by day, Hamas is "contrarily replenishing its forces with 17 and 18-year-old youths."
Brick also highlights that many Israeli reservists no longer agree to be repeatedly called up for service and that conscripted soldiers are exhausted and lacking in specialized training.
"Israel's economy, international relations, and social cohesion have been severely damaged by this attritional warfare against Hamas and Hezbollah," said the same person, adding that the Israeli military "does not have sufficient manpower to fight a multi-faceted war."
