France's budget deficit widens for the January-May fiscal year

France's budget deficit widened to 113.55 billion euros from 107.22 billion euros in the same period last year.

Total expenditure was sluggish at 221.75 billion euros, up 2.4% from the same period last year, and revenue increased 0.6% to 129.56 billion euros.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance's special accounts (revenue from local governments, etc.), which grasps the balance of revenue and expenditure, recorded a deficit of 21.32 billion euros compared to a deficit of 19.47 billion euros in the same period last year.
