France's unemployment rate falls to 7.3% in the second quarter

France's unemployment rate for the second quarter of 2024 was 7.3%, down from market forecasts and 7.5% in the previous three-month period.

The number of unemployed decreased by 0.04 million to 2.3 million, and the unemployment rate for 15 to 24 year olds fell 0.4 points to 17.7%.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for those aged 25 to 49 remained almost flat at 6.7%, and the unemployment rate for those aged 50 and over was also 5.1%.

By gender, the unemployment rate for men decreased slightly by 0.3 points to 7.3%, while for women it rose 0.1 points to 7.4%.

The activity rate for the second quarter of 2024 was 74.5%, unchanged from the previous 3 months.
