Summary of GE Spin-off
Since it was my first experience with a spin-off, I thought I would summarize what happened. I couldn't find any materials that explained the details of the GE spin-off, so I tried to interpret it myself. If anyone knows of any materials that explain it properly, please let me know 😂
- For every 4 shares of GE, you receive 1 share of GEV
- April 1st is the last day to be eligible, and it will be credited on April 3rd
- GE is renamed as GE Aerospace, and the stock price drops by 20%
- The stock price of GEV also drops by 20% compared to the pre-spin-off GE
- Since 0.8 + 0.25*0.8 = 1, the total amount of assets remains the same as the original GE. Holders don't lose or gain anything
- If you had the shares in a specific account, the GEV will be credited to a regular account, so in that sense, it could be a loss... 😇

kenau : I don't have a very good image of a spin-off. I have a strong image of separating shackles. Stock prices will almost certainly fall. The DSX spin-off was like that. There seem to be exceptions, but I think there will be a lot of decline.
おねご OP kenau : I see, thank you so much!
Looking at today's stock prices, GEVs aren't bad either, but GE is rising... The expression that the shackles were cut seems to fit
kenau おねご OP : If you cut it, it will be lighter, so it will rise.
181334118 : GEHC, which was spun off from GE last year, is going very well. GEHC was also moving sluggishly right after the spin-off, so I'm not worried about GEVs at all. Demand for electricity will inevitably grow due to AI momentum.
kenau 181334118 : There are differences depending on the type of industry, so there are also things that go up. I'm just commenting on my experiences, so I'll add that even if it goes down, it will go up afterwards.
謎のグレタ_7736 : Jim Cramer was looking forward to Vernova.
