German wholesale prices fall at a soft pace

Wholesale prices in Germany in 2024/6 fell 0.6% from the same month last year, easing from the 0.7% drop in the previous month.

Chemical products (down 0.5%), steel/semi-finished products (down 9.7%), livestock organisms (down 5.5%), computers and peripherals (down 5.4%), etc. fell.

Conversely, prices rose for coffee, tea, cocoa, spices (13.9%), non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals, semi-ferrous products (12.7%), waste and scrap (9.7%), sugar, confectionery, bakery products (5.8%), fruits, vegetables, potatoes (5.6%), and tobacco products (5.1%).

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices fell 0.3% contrary to expectations, falling below the consensus increase of 0.2%, and falling for the first time in 4 months.
