Get out the shopping list of stocks to buy or await these signals while considering this long-term bullish scenario
____________
Is it time to get out the shopping list, of stocks you want to buy?
It's end of quarter rebalancing time, whichis expected to grip marketsuntil 30 September, as it normally does, causing wild moves in stocks and bringing opportunities for some. Focus will also be on stocks being added and removed from key indices, with $GYG, $WGX, and $YAL being added, and $DHG, $NAN, and $STX being removed, effective from today.

What might the market need to see before moving higher?
And could these next couple of weeks be a buying opportunity? As we highlighted inWeekly video on Friday, markets could remain choppy until US earnings season (kicking off next week) reveals that US companies' earnings are growing and in line with expectations. If we see the 13% earnings growth, then markets should be supported to move higher. But, if earnings aren't as strong as expected, markets might be choppy heading into 2025.
What's the music to long term, investors ears? Well two things.
Fed rate cuts are positive for markets, provided there is no recession. Markets have risen 70% of the time, six months after the first Fed rate cut. Additionally, there is a record US$6.2 trillion of cash on the sidelines. Once we have certainty—such as knowing who wins the US election and seeing US companies growing earnings and guiding positively for the next 12 months—some of that US$6.2 trillion in cash could flow into the market and push it higher.
