Ismail Hanye, the political leader of Hamas, issued a statement stating that he met Masoud Pezeshkian, who was elected as Iran's new president.
The group said on its official Telegram channel that Palestinian officials are staying in Tehran for President Pezeshkian's inauguration.
“During the talks, Hanye congratulated the new president for gaining the trust of the Iranian people and briefed on the political and field developments of the war in Gaza,” the statement said.
Mr. Hanye also said, “I appreciated Iran's noble attitude of supporting the Palestinian people and their indomitable spirit.”
According to the statement, Pejeskian once again expressed Iran's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and “expressed their desire for them and their resistance in order to achieve victory in a just fight against aggression.”
