Happy birthday Singapore!

For many people, patriotism and love for the country should have been ingrained in their genes a long time ago, after all, a strong country leads to a peaceful community. We should strive for self-improvement! 💪

Singapore has always placed great emphasis on national education and patriotic education starting from childhood 💪. I am honored to live in such a country!

Every year during Singapore's National Day celebrations, we are happy to take the children to participate, whether it's the activities organized in our neighborhood community or the large-scale celebrations not far away. We are willing to buy tickets or try to win tickets for the large celebrations, and we generally don't miss out. Even though it's crowded and many games may not be playable, to be honest, the actual games don't matter. What's important is to show the children the scene, experience the atmosphere, and emphasize participation.

I have always believed that a sense of belonging and identity are very important for everyone. Where do these feelings of belonging and identity come from? They come from the civics lessons at school, the subtle influences in the surrounding environment, and the upbringing by parents at home. These are all important aspects of building a child's sense of belonging and identity. Singapore has done a great job in this aspect. Every child in the fifth grade is brought by the school to observe the national day parade rehearsal. Each school also has a uniform, as you can see from the photo my child sent, this is the rehearsal for this year's national day parade, with rows and rows of students from different schools in their red T-shirts and white caps! My child came back and described the scene to us repeatedly, how wonderful it was, and how exciting the atmosphere was...

On the evening of Saturday, August 3rd, we attended the celebration in the Nanyang neighborhood community. The tickets were only 3 dollars, with food, drinks, free ice cream, game coupons for the kids, and even the chance to win in a Lucky Draw. My son bought 10 tickets in one go and invited his 2 good friends to play games at the event. We gave them all the game coupons from our family's tickets, and they still felt it wasn't enough, so we bought a few more on-site. Oh, are boys' social interactions just playing games together?

There was a lion and dragon dance performance at the event, accompanied by the deafening sound of gongs and drums. My heart was racing along with the beat of the drums.

The atmosphere at the event that night was very lively. If you weren't present, it would be hard to feel the excitement. Many elderly people were singing and some even had tears in their eyes. I think this is also why many people are willing to spend a lot of money to watch live concerts by singers, rather than just watch them at home. I recorded a short segment of the singing part, where everyone, young and old, with good or not-so-good singing skills, sang with dedication. Although no one's singing was particularly professional, the emotion behind it could be felt directly in the hearts of the audience.

The event started at 6 PM and didn't end until after 10 PM, requiring a certain level of physical and mental energy. I felt a bit tired halfway through and went home to rest. My husband and the children held on until the end for the Lucky Draw, with 20 small prizes drawn midway and 10 big prizes at the end. It's said that the prize money was substantial. Although none of our numbers won, the children enjoyed themselves and said they want to come again next year.

I think these activities, these songs that everyone sings together over and over again, year after year of celebrations, should be the happy childhood memories of children. Children should remember these activities. When they grow up, they may also participate in community activities or become organizers of these celebrations, so that their next generation can also feel such a warm patriotic atmosphere. This is probably what is meant by passing on the torch. When "patriotism" and "unity" are concretized in this way, they will inspire generation after generation of Chinese people's patriotism. We should strive for self-improvement! 💪

Happy Birthday Singapore!

May the year ahead be filled with joy and laughter! May Singapore continue to prosper and be safe!

Happy Birthday Singapore! May the country be safe and prosperous, getting better every year!
