Harris criticizes the Republican Party over the semiconductor law - Trump fuels division with his statements.

November 3, 2024 14:52 JST (excerpt)
House Speaker Johnson retracts support for the CHIP Act abolition.
Mr. Trump makes baseless claims that jobs for black workers are being given to immigrants.
Democratic presidential candidate in the US election, Vice President Harris, strongly criticized House Speaker Johnson (Republican) for advocating the abolition of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPs) Act established by the Biden administration to promote and subsidize domestic semiconductor manufacturing and support the domestic semiconductor industry.
As the voting day approaches, the differences in positions between Ms. Harris, aiming to attract blue-collar votes, and former President Trump, the Republican candidate, have become clear.
On the 1st, Mr. Johnson visited upstate New York with a House Republican legislator based there, who is planning to invest up to $100 billion (approximately ¥15.3 trillion) in Micron Technology using subsidies from the same Act and expressed his support for the abolition of the CHIPs Act.
