HK Stocks' Buyback Amount Hits New High Last Yr; TENCENT Accounts for 40% of Total Amount
The buyback scale of Hong Kong stocks swelled 20% YoY to $125.926 billion, hitting a record high. Of which, the buyback amount of $TENCENT (00700.HK)$ accounted for 40%, with a scale of $48.4 billion.
The buyback amount of Hong Kong stocks in January 2024 continued to hit new high, and the buyback amount was $22.8 billion by 26 January, up 2.26x from the same period of 2023, according to Wind's data.
As of 26 January, 99 companies have conducted buybacks. Of which, TENCENT ranked the first with 13 times of buybacks, involving over $9.8 billion, accounting for 43% of the total repurchase amount.
$MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)$ followed with nearly $3.2 billion of repurchase amount and a total of 8 buybacks. The buyback amount of $HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)$ and $AIA (01299.HK)$ were nearly $2.8 billion and nearly $2.2 billion, respectively.
