How BigCommerce shines in my eyes over Shopify
Came across this company when I was reading on a market trend book before pandemic. I always found very quality writeup about e-commerce from $BigCommerce Holdings (BIGC.US)$ site. https://www.bigcommerce.com/articles/ecommerce/sell-online/ They have the knuckles and know-hows.
Somehow, people only know or came across Shopify online. In terms of brand awareness, shopify has the upper hand.
Competitive Analysis on E-commerce rivals

BigC’s is kind lengthy and wordy on website, barely any good photo or visual on site to give a quick glimpse of idea of what they are doing. It takes some time to read up to find out what BigCommerce is doing. To be honest, people are more visual-based.
Shopify makes with the photos of the end results of their target audience.(the relieved look on using their service). Simplified with fewer link cards of what customers/customer-to-bes are critically concerned with.
Target Audience:
$BigCommerce Holdings (BIGC.US)$ tends to have more big Brands clients than Shopify. I maybe wrong if anyone can share more info to correct me. Many big brands sorta prefer BigCommerce as they provide very versatile and tailor-made structure and value-added services. BigCommerce incredibly versatile in technical expertise is their strength. But it is also their weakness. They focus too much on technical. On contrary, customers is seeing from different angle that UI/UX plays a vital role here.

Suggested Strategy for BigC=> Streamline and categorise on which hanging fruits or best base of target audience to be targeted on. Grow your small SME clients to medium SME then bigger enterprise.
Form Vs Function:
How to convey fast and clear message to your target audience?
Eg, A breathable Underwear? Writing up a lengthy article on the materials?
Hell no! put on the underwear at your nose. People catch it right away. This is just an example.
Conclusion:
It looks to me that BigCommerce is very strong in backend and architect on e-commerce, but they fail to make FORM OVER FUNCTION. Think of Apple Vs Windows, Instagram Vs Facebook in UI/UX.
To be honest, I have been looking forward to BigCommerce being a giant, there are couples of tips and tricks under their sleeves. And after having read up BigCommerce Holdings, Inc. It will be such a big sell out if they give up.
I wonder if $BigCommerce Holdings (BIGC.US)$ has been a target of hedge fund like $GameStop (GME.US)$ last time. The revenue has been improving for the past few years. Even though it may not be so high like other peers. The products and services keep on improving.
