The basis of investment is growth stocks --- basic strategies in stock investment
_______________________________________
──What combination of investment strategies for growth stocks and value stocks does Mr. PAN choose?
PAN: I'm not really interested in value stocks.Basically, we invest in growth stocks. There is some reason why value stocks are value stocks, so price fluctuations are also small. There aren't many companies that are interested. We invest in QQQ and individual stocks.Since QQQ also includes a lot of growth stocks, it is recognized as a growth ETF.
──Is screening used when searching for investment stocks?
PAN: I haven't used it very often, but recently I introduced a screening method using the moomoo app. When I talk about the Moomoo app here, it sounds like “yoisho” (laughs)
What is the screen methodLook for stocks where the 200-day moving average line is pointing upward and the MACD line has a golden cross below the middle line. It's a bit suited for short-term trades, but if you use this screening, the win rate is high.
──When you invest, does that mean you have some information about the company that owns that stock?
PAN: Basically,We invest in companies that know what they do. This part is Buffett's way of thinking, isn't it?
──The price of growth stocks can also fluctuate greatly over the course of a day, but can you still sleep well in the middle of the night?
PAN: Yes.I think growth stocks are going to increase or decrease, so I'm dividing themso. Originally, I don't like investments with large price fluctuations,I expanded my tolerance range in terms of training
──Are there any things that make you feel a little nervous about investing?
PAN: I don't care about the daily activities,For example, if it drops by 2 million yen or something for 3 days in a row, it makes me uneasy in my own wayRight.
──Aren't people allowed to gamble?
PAN: I don't gamble at all. I've been to Las Vegas over 10 times, but I hardly gamble. The reason I don't do it is because I think I probably have a personality that makes me really addicted to casinos, and I have a “casino NASDAQ.” You can participate from anywhere in the world”luxury casino NASDAQ” is nice, isn't it?

──When you buy and sell, do you look not only at charts but also at news?
PAN: I watch the news all the time. We also check interest rates and economic indicators. I explain the news every morning on YouTube, but I actually watch many times more news than I explain, and I pick up only interesting, intriguing, and important things from among them.
I mainly watch the news at night, and I get busy from 9:30 p.m. on weekdays. Basically, I invest in US stocks, so I'm watching US news. Conversely, I haven't looked at Japan at all. On Saturdays and Sundays, I relax, sleep, and work.
I always keep a reasonable amount of cash on hand so that I can move right away when I watch the news and think about buying something quickly. There are times when I don't have it, but at those times, depending on the market price, if there's something I should sell, I'll sell it, and if there's nothing I should sell, I'll put up with it.
──Are there any stocks, industries, etc. that you are currently paying attention to?
PANI think generative AI is a theme that will continue for the next 5 years, so I'm paying attention to stocks related to it. Cloud, semiconductor-related semiconductor manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturers, semiconductor design, software development, etc.Software development companies are paying attention to who will be the first to commercialize software incorporating AI. It's hard to read, but if I were to launch one brand, I'd pay attention to Adobe
──Is Adobe likely to be the first to commercialize software incorporating AI?
PANI'm an Adobe user myselfSo, I tried using the beta version of Photoshop that uses generative AI now, and I was surprised that it was able to do so many amazing things. For example, I was able to process a group photo of a person, try changing one person's clothes, or erasing only that person, make a vertical image horizontally long, and fill in where there was nothing, so it was very beautiful. Adobe is still a strong company, but companies that are the first to adopt such technology will be even stronger. If you could use this AI function, for example, by adding $20 per month, I think I'd pay it myself, so I think most creators would pay for it.
The first iPhone I bought was an iPhone 4, and it was about 13 years ago that I thought it was amazing to be able to browse the internet smoothly. If I had bought Apple shares at that time, now they have increased tenfold. I have the same feeling at Adobe today. That's why I'm keeping an eye on Adobe stocks.
Until now,There must have been many times in my life where something so innovative came out that I felt “this doesn't change the world” or “this doesn't change the future.”. For example, I think there are people who felt that way when the internet came out into the world, and there are also people who felt it when personal computers were able to be bought by individuals or when everything became possible on the cloud. At that time, they think, “If this were to become popular, which company would make a profit,” and invested in that company. This isI invest according to my own imagination, so it's what's called screeningRight. In places where no one can see, such as past growth rates and valuations, I make investment decisions on my own. Actually, if you invest in something like that, I think there is a possibility that you can get a pretty big return.

──Incidentally, other than tech stocks, have you invested in anything other than tech stocks that you felt would change the future?
PAN: I invested in a handcraft shopping site company called Etsy in the US. It was after the COVID-19 pandemic, but when I was living in the US, I went to someone's home party, and there was a cushion with a number written on it. It's fashionable, so I thought, “What's this?” When I talked about that, it was actually the latitude and longitude of that house.Shopping sites where you can order such products are interestingI thought, and when I looked at Etsy, there were mountains of handmade products, such as house decorations, plates, stuffed animals, bedspreads, etc.
What's more, they ship worldwide, and although it's an automatic translation, it can also be read in Japanese. There are people who sell them from Japan, and there are also people who sell recycled products from Europe. You can also do business such as assembling plastic models in Japan, painting them in a cool way, and selling them all over the world. It doesn't compete with Amazon either, so I felt this was amazing. I actually ordered my own handmade masks, and they were stylish and shipped quickly, so I thought, “This is a little nice,” so I bought stocks.
When I looked at the chart, I saw a pattern of going up and down in a stepped pattern, so if I repeatedly bought more when it was going down, the result was quite a purchase price. After that, Etsy shares also entered the S&P 500, so it was quite a return.
──It's very important to always think about what you can invest in the things you see in your life, isn't it?
PAN: For example, Starbucks has expanded into Japan, and people who thought “this is different from coffee shops up until now,” would have been able to buy stocks. When Facebook (now Meta) went public, many people were already Facebook users, so I was able to come up with the idea of buying stocks. In the future,As long as you set up a lot of antennas, I think there is such a thing
──How much money do you pay to gather information, and how do you collect information?
PAN: Information is collected from news and various types of data.I watch live broadcasts of FOMC meetings, etc., and when I watch economic indicators, I not only watch headlines, but also access original data as much as possible from various sitesI'm doing that.
As a source of information, paid media such as the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and Bloomberg cost around 40,000 yen a year. Not only that,Get a subscription to a strategist you personally valueBy doing so, we have also secured valuable information sources that cannot be accessed by the public. For example, I buy a subscription for Tom Lee, the co-founder of Fundstrat, for 340,000 yen a year.
I'm worried about futures numbers, so I check futures information frequently on my smartphone using free tools. On my desktop computer, I use an application that is convenient for displaying multiple charts and can make efficient use of information.
What I often see on the moomoo app is the trading trend of super large, medium, and small investors. Basically, I want to keep up with the movements of large investors, so I'm watching the trends of super-large and large investors. As for the movements of small investors, we are seeing movements where they buy and sell in a spot manner with a bit of news.
While the US market is open, I'm the type that wants to watch the chart the whole time without having to trade anything. The moomoo desktop computer app is convenient for sorting multiple charts and is easy to read.

──When did you start to be interested in investing?
PAN: I haven't been interested in investing since I was a student. It was around 2000 that I realized the importance of investing, and I was greatly influenced by Robert Kiyosaki's “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” which became a best seller at the time.Investment is essential, and they are strongly urged that they cannot become wealthy without investing, so it was a great stimulus
I think the main reason why the investment ratio of Japanese people is low is that there are few attractive investment targets. While there are favorable tax systems such as 401 in the US, it is difficult to analyze individual stocks in Japan, and it can be said that the investment threshold is high. Buying a home is common in the US, and I think that being able to feel an increase in asset value has also led to fostering an investment mindset.
I myself have a sense of mission to emphasize the importance of investment, and I would like to tell you how to gather and analyze informationI think so. I hope to be able to contribute to the penetration of investment culture with little effort.
