The basic principle of investment is growth stocks --- the basic strategy of stock investment

---What combination of growth stocks and value stocks does PAN-san choose for investment strategy?
PAN-sanI'm not very interested in value stocks.Basically, I invest in growth stocks.Value stocks tend to have smaller price fluctuations because there is some reason why they are considered value stocks. There are not many companies that I find interesting.I invest in QQQ and individual stocks.I also have the impression that QQQ contains many growth stocks, so I see it as a growth ETF.
---Do you use screening when searching for investment stocks?
PAN-san: I don't use it much, but recently, I introduced a screening method using the moomoo app. If I talk about the moomoo app here, it might sound like I'm promoting it (laughs).
The screening method is to search for stocks where the 200-day moving average is upward and the MACD line has crossed above the midline. It's a bit more suitable for short-term trading, but using this screening method results in a high success rate.It is suitable for short-term trading, but using this screening tool can improve the win rate.
---When you invest, does it mean that you have some information about the company as a whole?
PAN-san: Basically, I invest in companies that I know what they are doing. This part is Buffett's way of thinking.──
---──
PAN-san: Yes.I think growth stocks go up and down, so I accept it.I don't like investments with large price fluctuations, butI have been training myself to expand my tolerance range.
---When investing, do you sometimes find it mentally challenging?
PAN-sanI don't really care about the daily fluctuations, butFor example, if it drops by 2 million yen for three consecutive days, I would be somewhat concerned.Right?
---Do you gamble or anything like that?
PAN-sanI don't gamble at all. I've been to Las Vegas more than ten times, but I hardly gamble. The reason I don't do it is because I think I have a personality that would get addicted to casinos and also because there is the "Casino NASDAQ". I can participate from anywhere in the world.High-end casino NASDAQ.It's nice, isn't it?

---When buying and selling, do you also check the news in addition to the charts?
PAN-san: I always check the news. I also check interest rates and economic indicators. I do a news commentary every morning on YouTube, but in reality, I watch many times more news than I actually comment on, and I pick up and cover only the ones that seem interesting, pique my interest, or are important.
I mainly watch the news at night and it gets busy from 9:30 pm on weekdays. I primarily invest in US stocks, so I watch US news. On the other hand, I don't pay attention to Japan at all. On weekends, I take it easy and either sleep or work.
I always keep cash on hand so that I can act quickly when I see news and want to buy something.Sometimes I don't have cash on hand, but in such cases, depending on the market, I sell if there is something I should sell, and if there is nothing to sell, I tolerate it.
---Are there any stocks or industries that you are currently paying attention to?
PAN-sanI am paying attention to the related stocks of the AI generation, which I think will continue to be a theme for the next five years.Cloud, semiconductor-related such as semiconductor manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturers, semiconductor design, software development, etc.In software development companies, attention is focused on who will be the first to productize AI. It's hard to read, but if I were to mention one, I would focus on Adobe.
---Is it likely that Adobe will be able to productize software that incorporates AI early?
PAN-sanI am an Adobe user myselfSo, now, I tried using the beta version of Photoshop with AI, and I was amazed by what I could do. For example, editing a group photo of people, changing someone's clothes, erasing only that person, making a vertical image horizontal, and filling in empty space, all turned out very beautifully. Adobe remains a strong company, but companies that quickly incorporate such technology will become even stronger. If I could access this AI feature by adding $20 per month, I would pay for it myself, and I believe many creators would too.
The first iPhone I bought was the iPhone 4, and I was amazed at how smoothly I could browse the internet, about 13 years ago. If I had bought Apple stocks at that time, they would be worth ten times more now. I have a similar feeling about Adobe right now, so I'm keeping an eye on Adobe stocks.
Until now,There have been many instances in my life when I felt that something innovative was happening that would change the world or the future. For example, when the internet first emerged, there were people who felt that way, and when personal computers became available for purchase and everything could be done on the cloud, there were also people who felt that way.At those times, I would think, 'If this becomes popular, which company would profit from it?' and invest in that company. This is called screening because I invest based on my own imagination.I invest based on my own imagination, so it's what you call screening.Yes. By making investment decisions based on factors such as past growth rates and valuations that are not visible to everyone, you are able to determine your investments independently. In fact, investing in such things can potentially yield significant returns.

---By the way, have you had any investment experiences in things other than high-tech stocks that you felt could change the future?
PAN-sanI invested in a company called Etsy in the United States, which is a handmade crafts shopping site. After the pandemic, when I was living in the United States, I went to a house party where there was a cushion with numbers written on it. It looked stylish, so when I asked, "What is this?" it turned out to be the latitude and longitude of the house.Such shopping sites where you can order such products are interesting. When I looked at Etsy, I found that there were a lot of handmade products such as home decorations, dishes, stuffed animals, and bed covers.
Moreover, they ship worldwide and can be read in Japanese through automatic translation. There are people selling from Japan as well as people selling recycled goods from Europe. You can even do a business of assembling and painting model kits in Japan and selling them worldwide. It's amazing because it doesn't compete with Amazon. I actually ordered handmade masks and they are fashionable and were shipped quickly, so I bought stocks, thinking 'this is pretty good'.
Looking at the chart, I noticed a pattern of going up and down like stairs, so I kept buying more when it was going down and ended up with a considerable amount of purchases. After that, Etsy stock entered the S&P 500, so it turned out to be quite a return.
---It is very important to always think about if there is anything in your life that you can invest in, right?
PAN-san: For example, when Starbucks entered Japan, people who thought "this is different from the previous cafes" could have bought stocks. When Facebook (now Meta) went public, many people were already users of Facebook, so they could have thought about buying stocks. In the future, if you keep your senses sharp, I think there will be more opportunities like that.By keeping an eye out, there will surely be such opportunities.
---How much money do you pay for information gathering and how do you gather information?
PAN-sanI gather information from news and various data.I watch live broadcasts of events like FOMC meetings, and when looking at economic indicators, I not only read the headlines but also try to access the original data from various websites. That's how I do it.
As information sources, paid media such as The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and Bloomberg cost about 0.04 million yen annually. In addition to that, I also subscribe to strategists who I personally evaluate and secure valuable information sources that are not accessible to the general public. For example, I purchased a subscription from Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, for 0.34 million yen annually.I also subscribe to strategists who I personally evaluate and secure valuable information sources that are not accessible to the general public. For example, I purchased a subscription from Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, for 0.34 million yen annually.
Since I'm interested in futures numbers, I frequently check futures information using free tools on my smartphone. On my desktop computer, I use an app that allows me to efficiently utilize multiple chart displays for convenient access to information.
On the moomoo app, I often look at the trading trends of large, medium, and small investors. Generally, I want to follow the movements of large investors, so I pay attention to the trends of large investors. As for small investors, I observe their movements of buying and selling based on small news.
While the US market is open, I am the type of person who wants to keep looking at the charts even if I don't make any trades. The moomoo desktop app allows convenient arrangement and visibility of multiple charts.

---When did you start becoming interested in investing?
PAN-sanI did not have an interest in investing since my student days. The importance of investing dawned on me around 2000, and I was greatly influenced by Robert Kiyosaki's bestseller "Rich Dad Poor Dad" at the time.Investing is essential, and it strongly emphasizes that without investing, one cannot become wealthy, which was a big stimulus.
I think one of the main reasons for the low investment ratio among Japanese people is the lack of attractive investment targets. While the USA has advantageous systems like 401(k), Japan faces the challenge of difficult analysis of individual stocks, making the threshold for investment high. In the USA, homeownership is common, and this ability to see the increase in asset value also contributes to cultivating an investment mindset.
I personally feel a sense of mission to emphasize the importance of investing and want to share methods of information gathering and analysis.I believe that by contributing to the penetration of investment culture, even in a small way, I can make a difference.
