HSI Opens 37 pts Up; NEW ORIENTIAL Series Narrow Gains After Surging at Open
DJIA rebounded 294 points or 0.8% last night after a pause in JPY carry trade unwinding, and Hong Kong stocks opened higher in the morning. $Hang Seng Index (800000.HK)$ opened 37 points or 0.2% higher at 16,684, while $Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (800100.HK)$ opened 16 points or 0.3% higher at 5,868. $Hang Seng TECH Index (800700.HK)$ opened 19 points or 0.6% higher at 3,361.
$NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK)$ increased buyback to USD700 million and proposed a special dividend. Its shares opened rocketing 13.7% at $59.7 before narrowing its gains. $EAST BUY (01797.HK)$ from the same series elevated 3.6% at open.
As for other dot-com stocks, $BABA-W (09988.HK)$ opened 1% higher at $76, and $TENCENT (00700.HK)$ opened 0.2% higher at $355.2. $MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)$ opened elevating 0.6%, $BIDU-SW (09888.HK)$ and $JD-SW (09618.HK)$ opened inclining 1.4% and 1.6% higher, but $XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)$ opened dipping 0.3% at $15.78. $WB-SW (09898.HK)$ opened hiking 5.5% at $60.95, as $TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK)$ opened 4.1% higher.
