This is because acquiring companies typically have to pay a higher market price for the target company in order to incentivise the buyout. The exact same thing happened when Microsoft acquired Activision.
But in this case, this buyout has also not yet been finalised, and we don’t even know how much DJT is willing to pay to buy BKKT. Therefore, expect volatility to be very high in the short term.
