Triple Witching feedback initiative: Help improve moomoo's options trading app experience
Views 88K Contents 213

I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.

This is my second time writing this post as Moomoo just crashed out of nowhere.
First up, Options Chain
Moomoo's options chain is extremely standard and supports all the features you'd expect, however I have a couple issues with them.
I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.
Firstly, the main issue is that to see the delta of each leg of the trade, you have to individually click on both of them to see the stats on the right side.
If you dont want to use the side panel, you can use the slider, but wait, that slider is so tiny that its such an inconvenience to slide on.
Just have an easy way to view each of the leg's option greeks and volume (most important as you alr have the bid-ask there).
Or, give us the Net greeks like optionstrat does.
I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.
Another problem with the optionschain is that the graph that shows our simulated P&L doesnt tell us what DTE it's based on, im assuming on expiry but having a slider would help.

Something like this from optionstrat.com would be helpful in so many ways, and give an edge over other brokerages.
Now, we move on to the Options Analysis.
I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.
Firstly, this panel while technically viewable from the optionschain, requires us to click on each option, and this may sometimes lead to us placing an order instead, especially if you use the custom options strategy choice. I really do like that it exists, though.
A bigger problem however, is that in order to see more options analysis, on desktop mode at least, we have to go to a whole nother tab and TYPE in the name of the stock to see it's options analysis.
I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.
It would be easier if there was a more intuitive way to not only see this info, but not have to type in the name of the stock either.
The information itself is standard and great, though.
Next, we move on to the options screener.
The options screener does it's job well (though i havnt been able to find it on desktop), but it only works with individual options from what i know, and does not look into the whole stock itself.
What i suggest Moomoo could do is follow what barchart.com does.
I have actually used the options features, so i can give some insights.
Having the ability to view volatility rank based off the stock itself is extremely useful as we're not just screening individual options which may be abnormally priced due to the spread or low liquidity. (or there would be so many options of the same stock that it wouldnt make sense)
For example, using this IV rank, im able to see that Micron on average, has a really high IV rank and IV itself, which I may be inclined to sell Puts/Calls on.
I know this isn't technically a screener, but my point is to filter by stocks (using an average like barchart does) and not individual options (which can both be seperate screeners tbh).
Finally, I hope Moomoo can consider extending their Commission-free option trades to multi-legged option trades, as well as rolling.
I dont know why its not possible to do so, attached orders like bracket orders arent part of the commission free coupon either, but itd be great if they were.
Moomoo's options commissions are already quite high, especially since there is a minimum of ~2USD on each trade, no matter the size. (IKBR and Tastytrade both nullify this, with the added benefit of no GST)
Moomoo is known for cheap commissions, so make that apply to options as well (your stock commissions are rlly good).
Tastytrade's commissions
Tastytrade's commissions
Moomoo's commissions, which are min ~2USD
Moomoo's commissions, which are min ~2USD
I understand that a bulk of the difference is likely attributed to the Platform fees and thats reasonable if you're using it to improve the experience and give us promotions, but if thats the case, at least re-invest our platform fees to better the features and UI problems I mentioned.
As a last P.S, your desktop app is extremely buggy and slow, some panels have a delay of like 5 seconds before appearing, and i frequent crashes.
BARE IN MIND, my PC is running windows 10 with an RTX 3060 with 32 gigs of ram.
I have no clue what kind of software, especially ones who NEED to be reliable and FAST can't be handled with my specs.
My work PC running professional trading software with a shitty GPU is running more smooth than your billion dollar trading software that's running on an RTX 3060.

  • Moomoo Lily : Hi mooer, thank you for your support and feedback. Your feedback is very important to us and we have forwarded it to the relevant department. We will continue to optimize and improve the quality of our products and services in the future. Thank you for your support.

  • Thy GoD OP Moomoo Lily : Thanks and excuse any informal language on my post, I hope you guys eventually become a big competitor in the options space.

  • Thy GoD OP : Update: some of the problems i listed seem to be existing features, but are much more intuitive to find/use in the new NX version of Moomoo desktop.

Additionally, I didnt realize the trade tab was more convenient and eliminated some of these issues, but the addition of a guide or tutorial on how to do them would've helped. (The NX version's UI design made things easier to find.)
