As early as December 2022, Sunway Construction received a general contract worth approximately RM1.7 billion from Yellowwood Industries (Yellowwood) to be responsible for the data center construction project at Johor Srinana Science Park (STeP).
According to the contract at the time, the scope of the project included the design and construction of piling and structural precast concrete; construction of the main data center building; installation and related works of mechanical and electrical services, telecommunications, control and safety, and major equipment; and other external ancillary projects such as roads, drainage systems, external mechanical and electrical services, and fence gates.
The project will be carried out in 3 stages and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year; now, the first phase has indeed been completed, but Yellowwood continues to add phase 4 of the project and raise the total contract value to RM3.2 billion; while Sunway Construction needs to complete stages 2 to 4 of the project within 20 months.
To date, Sunway Construction's total uncompleted orders are RM7.9 billion, which also includes the new projects obtained this year, as well as the Phase 4 project mentioned above.
