In a textbook outcome, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) landed almost exactly between the two, awarding a 3.75 per cent pay rise for Australians on the minimum wage, or the much larger group on awards.
It was a boring outcome that angered no-one.
I'm actually angered at FWC. They promised to make up for the massive real award wage cut last year. They gave a pitiful real wage raise this year. Even ABC plays the same game as FWC, concerned with the capitalist owner's feelings of giving workers a bigger cut of the profits. No mention of the reason for inflation was corporate profiteering.
Are you an award worker? You should be angry at this author trying to play off that a one-off real wage raise over the past 5 years as satisfied both the unions and businesses.
