Installation of a 0.03 million-ton offshore oil and gas platform designed independently by China has been completed

　China National Offshore Oil (CNOOC), a Chinese state-owned enterprise, revealed on the 17th that it has completed the installation of an offshore oil and gas platform with a total weight of about 0.03 million tons uniquely designed by China at the Xijiang Oilfield in the Pearl River estuary basin. The installation was also carried out by the Chinese side alone.

The Sogang 30-2B platform was installed, a fixed oil and gas drilling platform that combines drilling, production, and residence. It consists of two parts, an offshore part and an underwater jacket structure, and rises from the seabed at a depth of 98 meters, and the total altitude is about 198 meters, which is equivalent to a 70-story condominium. The total weight is approximately 0.03 million tons, and the weight of the steel materials used exceeds the weight of the two Guangzhou towers, which are steel-framed buildings and are the tallest in China, and the construction area is equivalent to 10 basketball courts.

　According to Deng Linqing, deputy general manager of the CNOOC Shenzhen Branch, many digital technologies have been applied to this platform, and many tasks such as crude oil production, equipment maintenance, and safety management have been made smart, and compared to conventional facilities, equipment maintenance and management using smart instruments can be performed with additional integrated smart devices and central control systems, and remote control has become smarter and more reliable by reducing human intervention.

　The Xijiang Oilfield is distributed 150 kilometers to 175 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen, and it is estimated that a total of over 0.1 billion cubic meters of crude oil can be produced over 30 years from the start of operation. If full-scale operation of the Xijiang 30-2B platform begins, annual crude oil production is expected to exceed 3 million tons, and it is expected that energy supply in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area can be more reliably guaranteed.
