Intel's Stock: 'One Disaster After Another'

$Intel (INTC.US)$ 's stock has been struggling due to concerns about its ability to stage a turnaround. Recent rumors suggest that Intel might sell parts of its business, but analysts warn these moves could hinder its ability to compete.

Once the top chipmaker, Intel has lost significant market share to $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ and $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ , especially in the AI space. CEO Pat Gelsinger is working to close the gap, but analysts see no "quick or easy fix." Intel’s stock has dropped by about two-thirds in 2024, leading to speculation about its place in $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ .

While most analysts recommend holding the stock, some warn of further declines, with Nvidia and $Broadcom (AVGO.US)$ highlighted as better alternatives.

  • Sean Parker : did you not see that they're getting a 3.5 billion dollar government contract? I'm thinking things mite start turning around soon.

Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC) has reportedly secured a $3.5 billion contract to manufacture semiconductors for the U.S. military.

What Happened: Chip maker Intel has been granted up to $3.5 billion in federal funds to produce advanced chips for military and intelligence use, reported Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.

  • Space Dust : been saying this since June.  Intel has been harmed by messing around with govt apparatchik.. factories 🏭 here and there, on/off 📴  like a switch..
and if they payed ball, the govt will bail them out, one way or another.
it's 😂 to believe the govt would hang it's future on the CEO's of the magnificent 7.. they look like an AI casting of the village people..

  • Simon 5183 Sean Parker : Can a $3.5 billion contract with the US military revive someone? A joke?

  • amd支持者 Simon 5183 : Some companies, even if they are about to die, cannot get government subsidies... they have such a strong background... even if they do not rise, they can still stand tall with the support of european countries...

  • amd支持者 Simon 5183 : This is the difference between a child and an orphan - a child always has a family to support them... It would be difficult for them to fall... An orphan can only rely on themselves...

  • DavidCCL : As usual, Gov will keep Intel alive no matter what happen. Tax payers' money are being used to save a dying company and US is going to use Intel's outdated technology foot its military?! I can only say, all the best to USA.

  • 103291848 DavidCCL : they're developing new nodes for upcoming techs, plus most military specs doesn't necessarily require the latest nodes. Some runs on legacy nodes, of which Intel has plenty of. Otherwise companies such as GlobalFoundries that doesn't have a speckle cutting edge tech wouldn't have been granted funding for military purposes

  • Nisdey DavidCCL : You are correct, the US government will subsidise Intel indefinitely. Simply because Intel is the most advanced semiconductor fabrication on US shores. AMD, nVidia, Qualcomm, Broadcom, etc. all use TSMC for their more advanced process nodes.

This isn't a bad thing, if anything, it's an incredibly sensible decision, especially considering the world's over-reliance on TSMC and Taiwan in general. Considering the geopolitical tensions in the region, Intel is a damn good stock to hold even as an insurance bet, should anything happen in the South China sea.

  • Sean Parker Simon 5183 : yes
