Investment Management Lesson 1O1 on buying the dip into Nvidia, Qualcomm, TSMCI, chips etc
Investment management lesson time. Loftus Peak's actively managed ETF $LPGD hit $1 billion in funds under management and I was invited to a celebration for it. But I thought I'd share my takeaways with you.
The ETF was an early buyer of Nvidia $NVIDIA(NVDA.US$, Qualcomm $Qualcomm(QCOM.US$ Taiwan Semiconductor $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US$. It also “bought the dip” when their shares fell about ~15% in April. See below.
And now many Semiconductor names shares are down about 14% in July. So, guess what investment managers will do now? They'll probably buy the dip. Some of those stocks are down more than that, such as Nvidia down 20% from its highs, so too is Qualcomm.
But why will investment managers buy the dip? Well knowing what we've (I've said before) that the AI/Semi space is expected to benefit from $1.3 trillion in spending over the next 10 years, which will support earnings growth for the sector.
