Investments #19/364 - what is your investment objective?
I've asked ChatGPT about importance of knowing objective in investing. It responded that "Investing is not just about putting your money into assets with the hope of achieving returns. It's a strategic endeavor that requires a clear understanding of your investment objectives. Knowing your goals is fundamental to crafting a successful investment strategy." Then it provided 5 or 6 arguments supporting its statement...
But you know what. I have been investing for 10 years already. I've tried different strategies, and I did not find any strategy which fits me perfectly. Every time when I think I found really undervalued reputable company (based on different indicators) and started investing in it, price did not move much for a long period of time (like Alibaba).
I started thinking that the whole concept of "intrinsic value" and that "The market will always revert to the intrinsic value of an asset over the long term" is outdated. Maybe it was relevant during Benjamin Graham times, but nowadays stock prices are moved based on emotions of retail investors and by robots which operate based on price actions rather than based on fundamental factors.
But we are investors, and should be optimistic about future🙂 Therefore, I decided to add shares of JP Morgan (JPM). I like CEO of JPM, Jamie Dimon. This is my main argument of adding these shares into my portfolio🙂
Wish everyone clearly understand the objective of investing and follow the selected strategy. My strategy is very simple - to make 364 weekly deposits of S$200 and buy any reputable stocks which I like.
p.s. I’ve deposited another $200 💪
