Iran detains dozens in search for Haniya assassin
US media reported that Iran has detained dozens of people, including military and intelligence personnel, as part of the investigation into the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniya.
Also, the New York Times reports that staff at the guest house in Tehran where Haniya was murdered early Wednesday morning are also being detained, citing the words of two “detailed” Iranians in the investigation.
Security officials broke into a guest house owned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and “quarantined all staff, arrested some, and seized all electronic devices, including personal cell phones,” the newspaper told sources.
Authorities are also targeting an Iranian airport to search for the culprit, and the source said that the culprit is an Israeli intelligence officer and is believed to be still inside Iran.
