Iran warns Hezbollah is likely to attack non-military targets in occupied territories

Iran's permanent representative to the UN said Hezbollah is likely to retaliate against Israel's assassination of its commander-in-chief by targeting broader and more important locations within the Israeli occupied territories.

Iran Press/US: “Until now, Hezbollah and the administration have effectively kept certain restrictions on military action under the understanding of unwritten rules. In other words, actions have been limited to border areas and shallow areas, and they have mainly targeted military targets.”

However, this situation may have changed when Israel attacked Dahie, a suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, on Tuesday and martyred Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah military commander.

“We anticipate that Hezbollah will select broader and more profound targets in its response and not limit itself solely to military targets and means,” the representative said in a statement.

The representative told CBS News that such targets would be within Israeli occupied territory.

Hezbollah's General Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah stated at Fuad Shukr's funeral that the war with Israel had “entered a new phase” and that Israel had “crossed the red line,” Al Jazeera reported.
