Is it really lying if they don't really know? I'm assuming you're speculating about the significance of the upcoming presidential election.
The problem with that theory is that markets must keep going, and there isn't really a "wait and see" approach on the table. Whilst things have been volatile, you've only been hurt if you bought high, then panicked and sold low. on the whole, most things have averaged out.
The YEN carry trade kinda sucks if you were hit with it, but you knew what you were getting into with that much leverage, and on the whole, it's probably earned you more than you lost.... so to those people "Cry me a river to the sea"
