Is this the industry norm ?

And the company foresaw this, that’s likely why prepare the statement so fast

Audit should always be independent, even you changed the entire organisation, Audit should still remain independent.
if management claim is true, the initiation should come from Company to request a change of auditor, not the other way round
Also, if it's a good profile, other big4 would wanna grab it...

Allen999 : Simple, if ur company financial sui sui got money who dunwan make, somemore big4 audit fees is so much higher compare others. If they also dunwan the audit fees , mean they sense the risk. They dunwan get involve to harm their reputation.
