Israel's War on Gaza: Recent Events

・Israeli military attacks have continued throughout Gaza in recent hours, and at least 3 people, including children, were killed in Abasan near Khan Younis.
・Kamala Harris spoke about Gaza in her acceptance speech as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, and stated that she is “working around the clock” to end Israel's war with President Biden.
・It is said that the Israeli delegation currently staying in Cairo for the Gaza cease-fire talks has presented a new proposal allowing a UN monitoring mission to be dispatched to the Philadelphia Corridor. In this plan, it is said that they are calling for a European Union (EU) mission to be placed at the Rafah crossing together with the Palestinian Authority. It also added that Israeli forces will gradually withdraw from the border.
• According to the Palestinian Prisoners Association, the Israeli authorities have released more than 40 Palestinian detainees.
・The Australian Navy's Ministry of Defense announced that the captain of the Australian Navy will take command of a maritime task force protecting Middle Eastern routes.
・The crew of a Greek-registered oil tanker that was attacked and wrecked in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen has been rescued, but the EU naval mission says that this ship poses an “environmental hazard.”
・Israel intercepts rockets fired from southern Lebanon. The rocket was fired over Mount Meron in the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel close to the border with Lebanon.
・The Israeli Prime Minister's Office denied reports that Israel is open to an international monitoring mission in the Philadelphia Corridor. “Prime Minister Netanyahu insists on the principle that Israel controls the route”. Prior to this, it was reported that Israeli negotiators are planning to submit a new proposal in Cairo to allow a UN monitoring mission in the corridor, which is a major obstacle to cease-fire negotiations.
