Israel's War on Gaza: Recent Events

• The Israeli military continued its air strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 8 Palestinians in Khan Yunis the day after air and ground attacks that killed at least 40 people in 24 hours.

・In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military began a “large-scale operation” at the three refugee camps of Jenin, Turkalem, and Tubas, and deployed drones, bulldozers, and ground forces of hundreds of people. Israeli media have reported that this operation is the largest in the northern West Bank since the second intifada (Palestinian uprising) in 2002.

・In Jenin and Tubas, at least 9 people have died in Israeli air strikes, and since clashes between Palestinian fighters and the Israeli military continue, the death toll is expected to rise further.

• Jordan called on the UN Security Council to take immediate action to stop Israel's encroachment on sacred sites in occupied East Jerusalem. Indonesia also condemned Israel's Minister Itamar Ben Gwihr, who is a supranationalist, plans to build a synagogue on the site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

・The investigative news agency Bellingcat said it can be seen from satellite images that the Israeli military is destroying a “large area” of Rafah in southern Gaza.

• Israeli Foreign Minister calls for the forcible transfer of Palestinians from the West Bank. “Threats to the West Bank must also be addressed, as is being done in Gaza, including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents and other necessary measures. This is a war in every sense of the word, and we must win it.”
