Japan and the UAE are set to start negotiations on an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) aiming to expand automobile exports and energy investments. (Date: 18th September 2024, 11:00)

It is expected that the governments of Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon agree to start negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). Japan expects to expand exports of automobiles and machinery. The smooth investment resulting from the conclusion of the agreement will also contribute to the expansion of energy-related investments and the stability of resource imports.
The total amount of exports from Japan to the UAE amounted to 1 trillion, 567.5 billion yen in 2022. A 5% tariff applies to many items, including automobiles, which account for 60% of the exports.
