On January 7, during Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's visit to Malaysia, he and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim formally signed an agreement to establish a special economic zone between the two countries.
Here are some key details about the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ):
The two countries aim to promote 100 projects in the first decade of the JS-SEZ.
By 2030, it is projected to create 100,000 new jobs and add an additional RM117.22 billion to Malaysia’s GDP.
Spanning approximately 3,500 square kilometers, the development model of the JS-SEZ draws parallels to that of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong region.
