The immediate end of the Port of America strike, labor and management have tentatively agreed on a 60% increase over six years.

October 4, 2024, 10:52 AM GMT+9 (excerpted)
The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), which has 45,000 members, and the employers' organization, the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX), announced on the 3rd that they had reached a provisional agreement on wage increases. The strike on the third day on the U.S. East Coast and the Gulf Coast of Mexico will be immediately terminated.
According to informed sources, the provisional agreement includes a wage increase of over 60% over six years. As a result, the average wage during the contract period is expected to increase from $39 per hour to approximately $63 per hour.
The ILA had demanded a 77% wage increase, while the USMX had proposed an increase of nearly 50%.
Both parties stated in a declaration that they will extend the basic agreement until January 15, 2025, in order to negotiate all unresolved issues.
Unresolved major issues include automation, which labor argues could lead to job losses.
The statement declared to "immediately cease all current dispute activities and resume all work covered by the basic agreement".
