Investing for Beginners - Learn, Invest, Prosper

Just like many others, I started investing by relying on hot stock tips, rumours or hype without understanding the investment. The result? You would have guessed it, I won some and I lost even more. Eventually I realise that investing is no different from gambling if one does not have the necessary knowledge and skills. No one is born as an expert but we could all improve ourselves a little every day to be a better investor.
Here's to share what are the steps I have taken to be a better investor everyday:
1) Continuous learning and improvement
We are lucky to have access to abundance of quality and informative resources these days. Amongst others, The Edge, Bloomberg and @Moomoo News Global are my go-to platform to keep abreast with the market news. My favourite youtubers/bloggers/education providers are @Ziet Invests @Beyond Insights @Alvin Chow 邹咏翰 and Adam Khoo (Adam Khoo) which you could find a lot of valuable and insightful information/content to help you to be a better investors.
Here’s also a big shout out to @Moomoo Learn which provides comprehensive and structured courses to all types of investors and traders. Perhaps it would be good if Moomoo can consider to organize Learn-and Earn challenges/contest to encourage and incentivizes users to complete the courses and quizzes .
2) Learn from others
While everyone’s investment goal and investing style is different, I believe we could all learn from other investors who have done well over time and avoid their costly mistakes. You can access to the investing stories of other investors here @Mooers Lab .
I also believe in learning by picking others' brains and gaining insights from their thought process. On this note, I would love to hear from other investors on their investment thesis on a particular stock especially those with the knowledge/insights on the ground. For trading, it is also beneficial to learn from others about their trading strategy, view and thought process on a trade set-up.
3) Surround yourself with like-minded community
As the saying goes – “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”.  Investing is a marathon and I believe psychological plays a big part to one’s financial success.
A good and positive community will provide you with a platform to ask questions, seek guidance and share ideas. This is especially important during the market drawdown which can trigger fear and anxiety among investors. During time like this, I find that having a community/peer group will provide the necessary support and keep each other grounded on the investment objective.
Investing is a journey with its ups and downs. Let’s all be open and enjoy the learnings along the way to achieve our own financial goals .
Thanks for reading and happy investing!
