Let’s hear from the CSCO & CPO, not the CEO…
$Chipotle Mexican Grill(CMG.US$ I don’t want to hear anything more from the CEO. I want to hear from the CSCO and the CPO. Aside from short seller manipulation of the stock price, the company has a supply chain problem that is manifesting in customer service issues (shrinking portions while denying the obvious, slow follow up on social listening that allowed this outrage to go viral) and stockouts (stores constantly running out of sometimes as much as half of the ingredients at once with no same-day solution or even partial solution). Bringing the CEO on shows won’t give investors any signal, just noise. We need usable information on process-based supply chain solutions, not huckster stories and spin. If anything, the CEO has hurt trust in the brand by repeatedly denying that portions are shrinking. Trust is easy to lose and hard to regain.
