Little better than yesterday ๐
$Fortescue Ltd (FMG.AU)$ continues to push ahead, making me wish I'd grabbed a bigger piece of that pie ๐ฅง
without DRO hitting red territory I'd be in a better position, overall %+ but took a decent hit.
$South32 Ltd (S32.AU)$ย nice surprise.. I'd valued it personally 3.5-3.9 short term but thought it may take longer (which in hindsight was a silly trade to make on comp rules- time is always running out!)ย will rethink that strategy and apply it more to regular papertrade lol
My regular AU papertrade is finally recovering some big losses though, local mining stocks, some pharma and a cpl of long shots like Jervois $Jervois Global Ltd (JRV.AU)$
are coming back after way too long. Am currently holding a -250k position on LTR, though gaining back now. Without a 600k profit on Brainchip a while back, I'd be well in red. So my current holdings are down a LOT, but my overall position is still 20-30%+
$Novonix (NVX.AU)$ is a very old fave I've been watching for years. Their big developments in synthetic graphite, plus all dry zero waste systems, anode AND cathode materials, will make this a long term Beast! took some hits thanks to interest rates and inflation, but now alot of new tech and systems are driven by the need to rely less on China for refining our minerals and selling it back to us... They've had a monopoly on mineral and refinery processes for far too long. We are finally wising up to the simple answer- build our own new battery tech systems, refineries and power sources, also focusing on new synthetic technology (which actually shows to be more stable). Lithium production is changing, and energy storage is becoming the next link to watch here... Vanadium Flow batteries are ramping up, getting approvals and meeting stringent safety standards. These huge energy stores are also non flammable unlike lithium even in single car batteries that explode and burn in seconds. Horizon is a big part of helping AVL Aus Vanadium integrate their storage and battery systems...replacing traditional generators and large enough to power towns... so I'll be watching that space. Green energy is a big transition and EV's and many other applications for it have been scrambling to develop the next big tech in energy- without the proper infrastructure to run it flawlessly...no names hey Elon?! We get a bunch of new electric cars and yet people were struggling to charge them... fiiiiiinally adding more stations is helping lol
Doesn't help the fear of spontaneous combustion in your car or home charging a scooter....right??!!
But mark my words, energy storage, from powering cities to mobile phones, will be the next industry selling the 'picks and shovels'.... I have a simple analogy for these chains..
Sure some mines strike it huge, though many don't... and the people making money the entire time were the one selling the picks and shovels to the hopeful miners day in day out. No matter whether they made it big or not, they need a continuous supply of tools right? We need a continuous supply of clean energy, (many debates on which direction) so like we saw with Tesla's initial problems, go ahead and create the tech but make sure we can USE it reliably. We need to be able to store it, in massive amounts, SAFELY.
Basically, we need better solutions for energy storage systems.
Overall it's a big industrial chain with many links that need to hold from mining, to refining, to processing and manufacturing, from R&D to marketing and distribution. All those links need solutions for storage and power consumption though... the mines themselves use MASS amounts of power, right down the chain to the consumer buying the phone or EV looking for longer lasting batteries always. The batteries and storage are the new pick n shovels. Mining is a finite resource, it's not sustainable and we know it. So synthetics are great, hydrogen, vanadium, uranium, nuclear power.. but all of them need to safely and competantly store the energy created. R&D in battery tech is big so I'll be sticking on nvx for a while.
pity can't trade it in comp mode... penny stock now lol
