Market Climbed Monday, up just past Santa Rally High Water Mark | Wall Street Today
Overall, the market climbed Monday, in a shortened trading week with a market holiday on Thursday to remember a Peanut Farmer turned President. It is CES tech week, and stocks of that variety tried their best to make the most of the situation- Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is set to speak on stage at the Las Vegas Industry Conference and likely reveal new products at 9 pm ET.
Just past the 4pm ET close, the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ climbed 0.55%, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ fell 0.06%, and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ climbed 0.43%.
MACRO
This week, watch for Nonfarm Payrolls and Unemployment numbers on Friday, alongside Michigan Consumer expectations for the economy.
Monday, S&P's PMI figures came in lower than expected but still showed that service industry firms paid increased prices for operation costs in December. the $U.S. 30-Year Treasury Bonds Yield (US30Y.BD)$ hit its highest numbers for a year Monday, propelled by low demand at auction according to Bloomberg.
SECTORS
Within industry themes tracked by moomoo, crypto stocks led the pack, climbing alongside $Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$'s $102k climb.

Elsewhere in the economy, $Crude Oil Futures(MAY5) (CLmain.US)$ it remained at $73. Gold fell silver climbed, and treasuries climbed.
MOOVERS
$Disney (DIS.US)$ and $FuboTV (FUBO.US)$ said Monday that Disney agreed to combine its Hulu + Live TV business with Fubo. Fubo stock exploded 180%, and then higher 251% the highest gainer in the market over $1B in market cap Monday on the news.
$United States Steel (X.US)$ and Nippon Steel filed a pair of lawsuits Monday accusing President Biden, the president of the steelworkers union and the chief executive of a rival company of conspiring to scuttle their $14.1 billion tie-up. The stock flew 8%.
The news boosted stocks across the semiconductor supply chain. American depositary receipts of $Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US)$ rose 4.3% Monday morning, while ADRs of $ASML Holding (ASML.US)$, the Dutch supplier of chipmaking equipment were up 5.6%.
$MINISO (MNSO.US)$ said Monday it expects to raise $550 million through an offering of equity-linked securities maturing in 2032, MT Newswires reports. Holders of the securities may exchange them for cash starting six years after the closing date of the offering. The securities will bear a 0.5% annual interest rate, the company said.
$Paycor HCM (PYCR.US)$ shares jumped 23% following a report that it was close to being acquired by Paychex. Shares recently were trading around $22.74. The stock is on pace for its highest close since Oct. 24 and its largest percentage increase on record.
$BlackBerry Ltd (BB.CA)$'s shares jumped more than 9% after it said it launched what it described as industry-first automotive software aimed at accelerating the development of digital cockpits.
