Markets closed for Juneteenth today
Since the price has been very ugly for a while, heres some history behind todays holiday.
Juneteenth is celebrated on june 19th every year to commemorate the enslaved people of the united states. The first time this holiday was celebrated was in texas in 1865, in the aftermath of the civil war. Enslaved people were declared free under the Emancipation Proclamation. Red beans and rice with hot sauce is a food that is commonly eaten to celebrate this day. Many wear the color red, as a symbol to show the bloodshed of the enslaved.
