In parallel with the historic acquisition, he sees Bitcoin as an important asset for the future. Saylor emphasized that “the country must look to the future, the future of the country lies in cyberspace, and Bitcoin is essentially cyber Manhattan.”
Michael Saylor advocates for US government ownership of Bitcoin
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Pro Bitcoin Microstrategies (NASDAQ: MSTR), stated at the Bitcoin conference held in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday that the US government should own the majority of the world's bitcoins. He believes that the acquisition of BTC will strengthen the US dollar.
Saylor said:
I think you'll back up the dollar by doing something economically reasonable.
He explained that when the US bought Louisiana, “we expanded the country, doubled its size, and supported the dollar.” Similarly, he said that the US bought Alaska and “we supported the dollar when we found trillions of dollars of oil under it,” and “we supported the dollar when we developed New York City's Port of New York and engaged in international trade.”
Microstrategy's executive chairman emphasized that “the country should look to the future, the future of the country lies in cyberspace, and Bitcoin is essentially cyber Manhattan.” So, the way you back up your dollars is to buy Manhattan for scraps of paper and trinkets and buy it before it's worth hundreds of trillions of dollars, just like the Dutch bought New York with plastic beads worth $50.
Saylor emphasized, “It's right in front of us.” He pointed out that “the United States owns most of the world's gold,” and concluded that “the US federal government owns 28% of US land.”
