Microsoft has released a recovery tool that should fix the CrowdStrike bug on Windows PCs. [Tweakers, Europe]
$CrowdStrike (CRWD.US)$ The tool, available for download from the Microsoft Download Center, offers two options to repair affected Windows computers and servers.
The most recommended option is Recover from WinPE mode. This mode allows quick and direct recovery of the affected system without the need for local administrative privileges. Users must enter a BitLocker recovery key via this option, provided the BitLocker feature is enabled on the device.
It is also possible to restore affected devices via safe mode. According to the company, this second option does not require a BitLocker key, but users must have access to an account with local administrator rights. According to Microsoft, this option is suitable for devices where the TPM is responsible for the security of the device and the BitLocker key is unknown. In that case, users must enter a PIN code. If both the TPM and Bitlocker features are used, a PIN or BitLocker recovery key must be entered.
