Minister Saito plans to submit a bill to the Diet early to enable investment in next-generation semiconductors.

Minister Saito, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, revealed in a press conference after the cabinet meeting on the 30th that he plans to submit a bill to the Diet early to enable government investment in the mass production of next-generation semiconductors.
Rapidas, which is planning to produce advanced semiconductors in Hokkaido, has been kept in mind, and Mr. Saito wants to submit it early, looking forward to the scheduled start of mass production in 2027.
There was a report on the 29th that the government had entered into discussions regarding investment in Rapidas, but Mr. Saito stated that no decision had been made regarding the investment.
In the budget request for the next fiscal year (FY2025), it was indicated that they want to support investment in equipment for early market introduction of next-generation batteries such as solid-state batteries and perovskite solar cells.
