On Tuesday, Fed Chair Powell will begin his two-day testimony before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs as part of his Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress. Although there are signs that economic growth and employment are slowing down, he may explain that the Fed needs more confirmation that inflation is decreasing before considering interest rate cuts. The June CPI data, anticipated to support rate cuts, will be released after Powell completes his testimony on the 11th.
