[Moo Brief] AAPL Q3 earnings ahead: Will iPhone AI help keep stock over $200?
On August 1, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ is scheduled to reveal its Q3 financial results for 2024 post-market at 5:00 p.m. ET. Although the Q3 financial results may not reflect the specific sales of iPhone AI, we were able to hear expectations and predictions regarding iPhone AI. Watch this space for Thursday's after-hours earnings call!
Since the second half of 2020, $Apple (AAPL.US)$'s stock price has hovered around $200. However, after $Apple (AAPL.US)$ announced that it would integrate AI into its devices, its stock price has stayed above $200 for over a month since June 11. From June 11 to July 29 closing, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ climbed over 5% to $218.24. Will Q3 earnings sustain the $200 mark for the stock price?
Double-edged sword: AI brings both revenues and costs - Will margin be impacted?
On Monday, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ released the first version of iPhone AI called Apple Intelligence. Since the new software has only been released in the developer beta version of iOS 18.1, only registered developers who have paid $99 can use this iOS 18.1 beta version.
The first batch of features includes Writing Tools, which is a writing tool that can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text. Siri can switch between text and voice and answer thousands of questions, such as how to use Apple devices like the iPhone. Emails now have an urgent email area and provide full-text summaries. Users can search for photos in everyday language and use AI to create videos with photos after entering text. Voice can be transcribed into text and generate summaries.
However, there are still some features Apple Intelligence doesn't have, such as Image Playground for image creation, Genmoji for creating personalized emojis, Priority Notifications for notifications, and a more powerful Siri with screen awareness. $Apple (AAPL.US)$ says these features will be available next year.
At the same time, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ stated that the AI model that Apple Intelligence relies on has been pre-trained on processors designed by $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ and detailed in the technical report that they chose to train the model using $Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$'s self-developed Tensor Processing Unit (TPU).
