Our second season of the Papertrading Competition has officially come to an end, and it's great to see many of our users sharing their thoughts and takeaways from the competition, including the two winners of the competition (U.S. stock market and Australian stock market) as well as the top 20 ranked users.

🏆 Champion Story
It was important at some stages of the competition to deploy capital preservation techniques and selling stocks that met my target price to preserve the margin already realised. These techniques included rebalancing, where I adjusted my portfolio to maintain my risk tolerance; hedging in the US competition to protect against volatility; diversification to spread risk across sectors; profit-taking to lock in gains; and maintaining cash reserves for flexibility.

...the most important thing is your portfolio is not restricted in one market, I began to diversified by trading in different market (US, AU, HK) to avoid the home bias and learnt to use options, CFDs to trade volatility.
Markets tend to overreact, leading to extreme buying and selling phases. Recognizing when a buying climax is turning into a selling climax can provide excellent shorting opportunities.
I deployed breakout investment strategies, identifying stocks with the potential for rapid price movements, which helped me climb to the #1 position in the US competition. 24 hours prior to the competition ending I closed out my positions however this proved not quite enough with @Drgon Empty Drg leveraging volatility index futures perfectly in the last trading session – well played!
Research is Key. I spent a lot of time researching my picks, and it paid off. Deep dives into company fundamentals, industry trends, and economic indicators can give you that edge.
Spread your bets across different sectors to mitigate risk. Don't expect overnight success. Long-term investing is about building wealth steadily.
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned from this experience is the importance of staying informed and continuously educating oneself.
