Hin093 : Amazing post. As a new investor currently, I've noticed that I'm easily swayed by market fluctuations and opinions from others. After years of investing, how do you manage your emotions?
The modern portfolio theory is intriguing. If you dont mind, can you explain it in more detail?
About the paperfolio you've shown in the post, is that function only available in Singapore Moomoo at the moment? I'm using Malaysia moomoo and I don't think there's an option for paperfolio, only papertrading.
doctorpot1 OP Hin093 : thank you
so to answer your first question, if we are easily swayed by them then it shows that we probably didn't truly understand why we invested in the company in the first place.
Take for example, we buy a house to stay in. We chose the house because it fir our needs. It is affordable, close to the grocery store and our work. Will the housing price fluctuations cause us to sell or buy the house? Will others comment about the house cause us to sell or buy the house? Not likely unless it is something very serious (e.g. drug dealers just moved into the area).
So the key is to fully understand why did we invest in the business? Market fluctuations and opinions from others, do help to give us more information for us to evaluate our decision. But all these takes lots of time and most of us don't have time, so maybe buying a broad market index fund ETF might be easier.
