Moovin Stonks | DJT Down After Alleged Assassination Attempt. Few Moovers, Tech Falling
Good morning, traders. Happy monday, September 16th. The market is climbing but turning down on negative tech stock movement leading up to the FOMC September macro decision day on Wednesday. Just past 2 PM, investors will hear if the Fed will cut back the target Federal Funds Rate and by how much.
Over the weekend, there was yet another apparent attempt on Former President Trump's life, foiled again by the Secret Service in Florida.
My name is Kevin Travers; here are stories moving on the U.S. stock market today.
Trump Media $Trump Media & Technology (DJT.US)$ fell 4% after a gunman with a scoped rifle came within 400 yards of Trump again on Sunday, and luckily, no one was hurt. Early investors in the SPAC merger deal that brought the company public will be able to trade their locked-up stocks after Sept. 19th, Thursday. Trump canceled plans to speak about the launch of a crypto project after the apparent attempt at this life.
Upstart Holdings $Upstart (UPST.US)$ stock fell 7% after the firm said Monday it plans to offer $300 million in convertible senior notes due 2029 through a private placement. The company said that initial buyers would likely have an option to purchase up to an additional $45 million.
$Apple (AAPL.US)$ stock dropped 3% Monday after nalysts said that demand for the new iPhone might be soft, particularly in China. "Early preorder data from China points to a softer start to the IP16 cycle, with a negative mix shift due to weakening consumer spend, macro pressure, and competition," Long wrote. He also said he did not expect Apple's AI features to roll out in other languages, like Chinese, until halfway through 2025, according to Apple's own Fall tech event.
Within industries tracked by moomoo, Consumer Electronics and semiconductor-related stocks fell alongside Internet Retail, pulling down the tech sector of the S&P 500.
$Crude Oil Futures(JAN5) (CLmain.US)$ climbed slightly, 1.8%. $Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$ fell a bit to $57k, gold and silver climbed. The $U.S. 2-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US2Y.BD)$ and the $U.S. 10-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US10Y.BD)$ fell, the two-year reaching a price not seen since a momentary drop in 2023, and 2022.
Just past 11:36 am ET the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ -0.20%, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ climbed 0.17%, and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ fell 0.82%.
In macro, all eyes are looking toward the Wednesday FOMC Monetary Policy meeting, where the Treasury Futures market expects rate cuts, according to the CME FedWatch tool.

Even Jeff Bezos, he accredited his success to his exwife. A billionaire status is not a one man project. All the billionaires are or were married when the work was put in to make all their money. Do you know of any single men who have been single all their lives who have billions of dollars? I can't recall. Similar to a wife who is your mother, Elon Musk and Maye Musk, they operate as husband and wife... now that marriage brings the downfall of companies and legacies.
