“Mpox will be the new covid”

It seems that people have forgotten that there was already a global Mpox outbreak in 2022, and it has been contained since May 2023. This means that countries around the world are far more prepared today for mpox than they were back in 2022, and that is why 90% of all mpox cases in the current epidemic are in the Congo (DRC).
So if you’re one of those people hoping for more people to suffer and die to profit off biotech companies, keep on dreaming.

Ken Griffin Charity2 OP 105263136 : Yes, the current outbreak is a new variant. However, the point is that the current outbreak is not spreading at anywhere close to the same rate as covid, or even the last mpox outbreak.
The previous mpox outbreak spread globally in 6 months. The current outbreak was detected a year ago and still remains contained to Africa, more specifically DRC which is a country with very poor healthcare infrastructure.
This ties in to my point that expecting mpox associated biotech companies to skyrocket in value the same way MRNA or NVAX did for covid is very misinformed.
