Mr. Biden's advisors and aides discuss persuasion measures to withdraw from the election campaign - NYT
US President Biden's longtime aides and advisers are discussing ways to persuade him to withdraw from the election campaign aiming for re-election. The US newspaper The New York Times (NYT) reported citing people familiar with the situation.
According to that, advisors to the Biden administration and small groups participating in the election campaign say that although it is impossible for Mr. Biden to win against former President Trump, it is necessary to persuade Mr. Biden that another candidate such as Vice President Harris can win.
In response to this, White House press secretary Andrew Bates stated in a post on X (old Twitter) that the report was “untrue,” and that Mr. Biden's team “strongly supports him.”
Apart from this, NBC News reported that some close aides to Mr. Biden said that the possibility that he would win in November was reduced to zero. One person involved in the Biden camp told the NBC, “We need to retreat. We won't be able to recover from here,” he said.
