Musk to build most powerful AI supercomputer powered by 100,000 Nvidia chips

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) startup, xAI, is reportedly embarking on an ambitious endeavor to construct one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, aiming to redefine the AI landscape.

This revelation, reported by The Information, has generated considerable interest and speculation within the technology industry.
The report indicates that xAI is collaborating with Oracle, a prominent cloud infrastructure and enterprise software provider, to achieve this goal.

The collaboration with Oracle is part of xAI’s broader plan to establish a “Gigafactory of Compute.” This initiative follows a successful funding round, during which xAI secured $6 billion in investment at an $18 billion valuation.

Musk envisions this machine to be at least four times larger than the largest existing GPU clusters, underscoring the immense computational power required to advance AI capabilities.

Nvidia’s H100 GPUs, renowned for their exceptional performance in handling complex AI tasks, have become a highly sought-after commodity.

Musk also speculated that by the end of 2025, AI systems like xAI’s chatbot, Grok, could surpass human capabilities in various tasks.
Grok, which is still in the early phases of development, will be a powerful deep-learning based AI language model optimized for natural conversations, generating creative content and other wide-range tasks done using natural language prompts.
In the future, iterations like Grok 3 are anticipated to surpass the current capabilities.
